Hardwood flooring, and therefore bamboo, may not always be the best choice of flooring for your home. Your lifestyle and the conditions in your home should be taken into consideration when purchasing any type flooring. Active children and large pets may scratch and dent the floor. Many consider this to be a favorable condition, because they believe it adds character over time to a hardwood floor. There are many factors that go into the decision making process to determine the type of finish we use for our bamboo flooring. Too hard of a finish, and the finish can fracture, allowing contaminates to react unfavorably with the raw bamboo beneath. We can make our finish literally scratch proof, but you then will not be able to see the elegant features of the bamboo stalk. With this in mind, we use one of the two most popular finishes used for pre-finished hardwood flooring. We have combined the best features of each to provide a flexible, clear, yet durable finish.
While there are many wonderful attributes to bamboo flooring. When you are thinking Green, Environmentally Friendly, and Easily Renewable Natural Resources, what better choice than bamboo? No other flooring meets all these criteria. Bamboo is environmentally safe, sound, and friendly! The growth season of bamboo is considerably shorter than the many decades it takes for hardwood forests to mature. Bamboo gains about 95% of its height (up to 90 feet) during the first year of growth, with most of that during the summer months. Its greatest strength and hardness is from five to seven years old. Our bamboo is harvested from five to six years. Bamboo regenerates without any need for replanting and requires minimal fertilization and pesticides. In addition, a bamboo forest is more efficient than most forests in producing oxygen, and is ecologically sound due to its interconnected root system which helps stabilize the soil and helps to provide and hold nutrients for future generations of bamboo trees (culms). Bamboo is truly an environmentally friendly plant which can help preserve our natural hardwood forests. Bamboo is the only easily renewable natural resource used for flooring. Also, Pandas do not eat Moso bamboo, nor do they live in Moso bamboo forests.
While outdoor environments are extremely important, indoor environments are equally important to you and your family. Golden Arowana Bamboo Flooring is also an indoor environmentally friendly product as well. There are no harmful or hazardous components or chemicals associated with our bamboo flooring. When recently tested, formaldehyde emissions registered .02 ppm, almost formaldehyde free!
